10. Spain – Into the top 10 kits with a strong entry from Spain and Adidas, they’ve not done anything crazy here but the colour scheme just works. The black, yellow and red collar is a thing of beauty.

9. Germany – Had this described to me as a scary kit and I don’t think they’re wrong, central badge and the German flag collar combine fantastically in this kit. Expecting a strong showing from the German’s in this number.

8. France – Wasn’t sure how I felt about this kit until I saw Kylian Mbappe in it with the central gold numbering and I was completely on board. It will look absolutely fantastic in this years tournament and a great classy example of how simple sometimes just works.

7. Wales – 64 years after their last appearance at the World Cup Welsh fans will be over the moon to be wearing this extremely classy entry from Adidas, does everything you want in a World Cup jersey.

6. USA – Another entry in the top 10 for a Group B team, aggressively American this kit but it comes together to make a gnarly jersey. Manufacturer logos on the sleeves just really work and again a central badge is absolutely fantastic.

5. Qatar – I’ve noticed a trend of how I really like central badges on kits but they're just class and this Qatar entry is a lovely example of that. Really entering the top tier of kits here and a great way to enter the top 5.

4. Cameroon – The Indomitable Lions have a history of fantastic World Cup Kits and this year’s Le Coq Sportif design is right up there with one of their bests. The two badges, the diagonal Lion marks and the three tone design on the left shoulder just come together to make a completely stunning kit.

3. Saudi Arabia – I have a theory that this kit design may have been meant for Nigeria but after they failed to qualify Nike quickly handed it over to Saudi Arabia. This jazzy number is all but certain to be a festival staple in the North East in summer 2023.

2. Mexico – Mexico arguably have the best two kit combo of any team in this years tournament, the home kit is a stunning kit with chevrons that you’ll surely recognise as evoking the flying wings of the “Mexican Eagle” from the Mexican legend of the founding of Tenochtitlan. Obviously?

1.Japan – Japan has gifted the world many great things over the course of history, from Sushi to QR codes, but this home kit surely has to rank above all those. In fact there’s an argument to say that human evolution as a whole has been leading to reach this pinnacle of football shirt design. Any words I try to use to describe it won’t do it justice. Hope Japan have a successful tournament and every knockout game they play goes to extra time just so I can see as much of this kit as possible.
