Manager: Kasper Hjulmand
Key player: Christian Eriksen
Best finish: Quarter Finals (1998)
World Cup Group: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia
Denmark eased through their World Cup qualifying group with 9 wins from 10, their only loss coming in a dead rubber against Scotland, and after reaching the Semi-finals of last year’s European championships where they narrowly lost out to England there’s plenty for the Dane’s to be excited about.
Experienced players Christian Eriksen and Kasper Schmeichel will help guide a well-balanced squad filled with defence solidity in Barcelona's Andreas Christensen and Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojberg, combined with the attacking dynamism of Mikkel Damsgaard and Kasper Dolberg.
The Dane’s will be a tough game for any of this tournaments best teams and whilst France are favourites to win the group Denmark recently beat the French 2-0 in a Nations League tie so don’t be surprised if they manage to finish top of Group D.
Denmark should have too much quality for Australia and Tunisia so progressing to the knockout stage is a very realistic expectation for the Scandinavian’s. I’d fully expect to see them reach the quarter finals but a lack of a real proven goal scorer might hold them back from progressing further into the tournament.
